I've been trying to get a custom ring made for some time, but I'm anxious about the gold costs. General information about this would be appreciated as I'm trying to learn what I can so I can be better informed in future too.

I've been quoted roughly 6k AUD for 9ct rose gold. I unfortunately dont know how many grams the ring is expected to be as it's still in the design process and they aren't very forthcoming with information (part of why I lack confidence here), but Id say that so far, its on the larger end of what seems normal.
Is this price point to be expected for a thick ring that is not absurdly large? I appreciate that these metals are expensive in general, I just want to cover my bases and not make a mistake with so much money.
