HMRC Debt - Filing For Bankruptcy
HMRC Filing for bankruptcy
A few years ago I ran a business and after Covid things escalated and I got into £330k debt with HMRC (a lot of it is interest and late filings and them guesstimating my VAT returns)
They filed me bankruptcy papers today - I knew it was coming and actually feel abit relieved in all honesty, as I knew I couldnt afford to go bankrupt myself.
I’m in full time employment and “sofa surfing” so to speak as I had to leave my rented property as the landlord wanted it back, and haven’t been able to find any rented accommodation within my budget.
Within the paperwork they’ve given me a court date, on a date I’m due to work, and over 2 hours away - do I actually need to attend the 10 minute appointment?
What happens with my job? Does my tax code change and go higher.
I’m in the UK.
Thanks in advance.
