newyorker.comWhy not live close to work?
I keep seeing posts from people asking for advice about where in the L.A. area to live, that seem to include a baked-in preference for commuting long distances to work every day.
Posts such as, "Moving from NYC. I just scored a $240k job where I'll be in Burbank four days a week. I'm 31 and want to be in an area with 30-32 year olds. Looking for a dog friendly area because I have a dog. Should I move to South Pasadena or Culver City?"
Or, "Moving from OC to take an in person $170k job in DTLA. I'm 28 and want to be around 28 to 29.5 yo folks. I like going out to eat. Considering either Sherman Oaks or Encino."
