Lock issue with car running
Have seen some similar posts around this issue, but the solutions have been varied from what I have read online: yesterday here in the northeastern U.S. it was really hot. I have two kids - an infant and a toddler.
I unlocked the driver side door with the fob unlock button and then I think opened the driver side door and pressed the unlock button on the inside of the door (the door handle unlock on the driver side hasn’t been working, so we have been using the button inside the door to unlock the rest of the car).
I put the infant into the car behind the driver seat and shut the rear passenger door. It was hot, so I wanted to get the AC going and so popped into the drivers seat and started the car with the AC on full blast. I then shut the driver side door and went around to the other side rear passenger door to get the toddler in. At this point I discovered that while the car had been fully open, it was now fully locked. Front passenger door also locked, along with the doors on the other side of the car.
Pushing the unlock button on the key fob did nothing. All doors locked with infant inside the car (at least the AC was on …). Still slightly panicked that the infant was locked in the car and the fob buttons seemed not to be working.
I finally got the key out of the fob and manually used it in the driver side door. But even that didn’t seem to immediately unlock it (I may have turned the key to the left first and then to the right which possibly was what caused it to work?).
Is the car supposed to function this way (some “security” feature)? Is the only way to override this issue is by using the physical key?
Please let me know if this is an issue with my vehicle or if I can otherwise disable this so that it doesn’t happen again! Thanks!
