Malawi won their WAFCON group

Just in case you aren't following WAFCON, Malawi, Zambia, and Nigeria all ended up with 6 points in their group and due to the tie-breaking system, Malawi won their group, Nigeria was second, and Zambia is out of the competition (and the 2027 World Cup). Temwa had 3 goals during the group stage (all of them beauties - chip keeper with foot, chip keeper with head, use speed to just go around a lead-footed keeper) and her sister, Tabitha, had 2.

So we're going to miss Temwa at least a couple extra games (or 3).

Top 4 teams qualify for the World Cup, so if Malawi wins their quarters, they are in the World Cup. If they lose in the quarters, they play 1 more game to get one of two CAF spots in the inter-continental playoffs.

Go Scorchers!

Cotton is my favorite early resource

Significant boost to capital production early + food. Or can be used to boost town growth + gold (via the production). About as pretty a second settlement as I could want.

Thinking about Lynn WiIliams trade for the second draft pick (Michelle Cooper) today.

Happened before I became a season ticket holder and followed the team closely. So curious what others think. But had to be tough to trade away the best (healthy - Mewis was in her neverending rehab) player on the team for a draft pick.

But we effectively traded Lynn Williams for Michelle Cooper and then Michelle has a pretty underwhelming first year.

But a move out to the wing, combined with the best payer in the world (I'll fight you on this - Chawinga is the best player in the world) has made Michelle Cooper an amazing player for both club and country. I know she'll be coming off the bench while triple espresso is around, but I think Cooper has a roster spot locked up on the USWNT for a long time. In many ways, she has the Lynn Williams/Biyendolo spot (ridiculously fast forward sub) locked up.

Huge map, 12 civs, so not overloaded, and Trajan and Ludwig start 7 tiles apart with a wonder between them. Not surprisingly they are already in a hot war. I think I'll just calmly take a bath and keep going.
