11yo keeps wiping poop on the wall. Nothing seems to fix this behavior. Dads, what do I do?
My 11yo keeps wiping poop on the wall next to the toilet. Less than a foot away from the toilet paper. We always have a roll on the holder and at least one on the toilet hanger as back up.
It started about 3 years ago. Potty training went perfectly for them back in the day and never had this issue until randomly they started wiping poop on the wall at my house. At Mom's house they wipe it on the shower curtain and tub next to the toilet there.
Mom and I are separated but co-parent better than we ever did as a couple. We've talked to the kid, asked why. Once the kid said they freak out at the amount of poop and just wipe it wherever and don't think to use the toilet paper. Ive told the kiddo that that's exactly what toilet paper is for and it worked for a while.
But it just. Keeps. Happening.
We've tried talking to the young one. Discussing. Explaining. Yelling. Grounding. Nothing stop it. They're in therapy for separate issues but it's once a month because that's all insurance will cover.
It happened again today after a few months of being good. I snapped. My mom who lives with me snapped. The kid was made to clean it up, just like every other time. Got grounded for 2 weeks, no tv or games, didn't let them take certain toys back to mom's. Even did 30 min timeout in the corner while I made dinner. Kid's mom is informed and just as done with it as I am.
Any advice would be welcome. I'm at my wit's end and have no idea what to do.
