England Rugby Depth Tier List Backs
Here's my personal opinion on the state of England's backs depth ahead of the Nations Championship. This is a combination of players who I think will be AND should be. I've used the allrugby.com website to try and consider minutes this season as exclusively as possible.
With some players playing multiple positions I've likely got some players in odd positions that they have not played recently so feel free to slate me.
If the classifications aren't fully clear:
Could Start- the 1st choices for Borthwick, only changing based on opposition or injuries.
Squad - those who have been playing incredibly well for their clubs and if they were in the final squad I'd be happy
Fringes - Those older players (24+) who have been in the England/ A squads within the last year and could theoretically get in based off that or have been on incredible form this season.
High potential - Slightly younger players who have been playing/ starting regularly for their clubs and could break into the squad in the near future.
Big next season needed - players who aren't starting for their clubs atm and need more gametime next season to be even slightly in contention or have been playing regularly for their club but are older players who would need to be the player of the season to actually be called up.
Younger/ academy players - players from the ages of 18-23 who it would be unfair to expect consistent gametime yet.
No chance - the 28+ players who haven't had a sniff at international yet and so are unlikely to be called up.
