i tested ai content with and without human editing

I ran a small experiment with AI-generated content: same niche, similar page types, same amount of pages.

180 pages were generated and published with almost no human moderation.

Another 180 pages were generated with AI, but then manually reviewed, edited, cleaned, and improved before publishing.

The difference was pretty clear.

From the first batch, around half of the pages did not even get indexed. The other half indexed, but ranked poorly. From the second batch, Google indexed the pages much better and many of them started ranking well.

So from my side, the issue is not “AI content” itself.

The issue is AI content published without SEO judgment:

1/ no real editing,

2/ no intent check,

3/ no cleanup

When ChatGPT is used as a draft assistant, it can work. When it is used as a full autopilot publishing machine, I don’t see the same result.

Google Search's guidance about AI-generated content

Curious if others tested this at scale. Do your AI-assisted pages rank better when there is real manual moderation behind them?

Did anyone actually improve AI chat visibility?

Has anyone here had a strategy that really worked for getting a brand mentioned more often in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, or AI Overviews?

Not theory, actual actions + results.

What did you do?
How did you track it?
How long did it take?

I saw a brand mentioned with context like: “Users complain about deceptive pricing and hard subscription cancellation.” Yes, the brand got visibility. But maybe it would be better not to be mentioned at all. If you analyze citation context/sentiment what valuable insights have you discovered so far?
