11 months post op: Dealing with recurring sickness
Hi, I am currently a 21F, I am currently 11 months post op, I got my tonsils out 06/23/2025. I got them out at 20 due to chronic tonsillitis, which I had been dealing with since I was 17. I used to only get sick about 1-2 times a year ignoring my tonsillitis flare ups which were bi weekly. In the past 11 months, I have gotten sick a quite a bit of times, with an increase in ear infections. I will post a time-line.
July 2025: Sick 2x
October 2025: Sick 1x
January 2026: Sick 2x
March 2026: Sick 2x
May 2026: Sick 1x (currently)
I had an ear infection in January which was treated with antibiotics while being sick.
In February, I had an awful infection in my finger that put me near septic, I almost lost it, which almost had the doctors send me to an ID doctor because they were so conflicted, so I had to have emergency surgery there. That month, I was put on antibiotics a total of 4x.
Right now, I am currently dealing with a double ear infection, on antibiotics while being sick.
I have plenty of other things I have been dealing with lately, and have a doctor’s appointment coming up in two weeks to figure out why this may be happening.
Has anyone else dealt with a compromised immune system post-tonsillectomy? Did you get an answer? I have seen benefits out of the procedure but I am afraid I may have developed an autoimmune disease.
