Why is it so hard to make new friends as an adult?

Lately, I've realized my life has become a little... repetitive.

I meet the same people. Have the same conversations. Follow the same routine.

There's nothing wrong with that. But after a while, it feels like there are fewer surprises, fewer new ideas, and less inspiration.

I've always enjoyed meeting new people. Not because I want to network. Simply because every new person has a different story, a different perspective, and a different way of seeing the world.

The challenge is... where do you actually meet people? Bars aren't really my thing.
Too much alcohol, too much noise. Dating apps aren't what I'm looking for either.
I just want to meet interesting people and have genuine conversations.

So I'm curious...

Where do you meet new people these days?

And are you a local, an expat, or a traveler?

Have you had similar experiences, or different with Indian people in Vietnam?

I've been wondering about this for a while.

The office building where I work has many Indian professionals, and honestly, my experience has often been that they tend to be quite loud in shared spaces.

Recently, one of my neighbors also mentioned having repeated issues with Indian guests staying in Airbnb apartments in our building.

I know it's unfair to judge an entire nationality based on personal experiences, and I'm sure there are many respectful Indian people. But if I'm honest, almost all of my direct experiences so far have been negative.

So I'm curious:

I'm genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives, especially from people who have lived or worked with Indian communities.

Grab coffee and meet a few new people in Saigon next Saturday

I've noticed it's surprisingly difficult to meet new people in Saigon once you're out of school or not working in a huge company.

So instead of another networking event, I'm hosting a very simple Community Coffee Meetup.

Nothing fancy. Just a small group of people meeting over coffee, chatting, then taking a relaxed walk to the Saigon Zoo & Botanical Garden.

No business pitches. No dating event. No awkward speeches. Just good conversations with interesting people.

Plan

📍 Meet at Let's Café (1 Lê Duẩn, District 1)

🕘 9:00 AM
Coffee & introductions

🚶 10:00 AM
Walk together to Saigon Zoo & Botanical Garden

Some people may stay longer. Some may leave after coffee. No pressure. Everyone pays for their own food, drinks and entrance ticket if they decide to enter the zoo.

I'm simply organizing it because I enjoy bringing good people together.

A few things

  • Free to join
  • English-friendly, locals + expats welcome
  • Solo attendees are absolutely welcome
  • No obligation to buy anything except your own coffee
  • Friendly, relaxed atmosphere

Why only 10 people?

I'm keeping it intentionally small. More than 10 and it becomes difficult for everyone to actually talk to each other. I'd rather have 10 meaningful conversations than 30 strangers standing around.

Registration

Please DM me before coming so I can prepare enough seats and coordinate with the café.

When you message me, just send:

  • Your first name

I'll confirm your spot once I reply.

First 10 confirmed people only.

See you Saturday!

Saturday, July 18

📍 Let's Café, 1 Lê Duẩn, District 1

🕘 9:00 AM

☕ Good coffee. Good people. Great conversations.
