Locals tubing logistics tips?
Hi fellow locals, my family of four has been tubing on the creek a few times lately, and we all had lots of fun (even with all the rocks to the bum!). We would love to keep going but the logistics make it fairly tricky.
I’m curious how other locals who own their tubes work the logistics of this? Here’s what our setup looks like: (We have two double tubes)
- blow up tubes 90% at home
- jam inflated tubes into one car, requires keeping the car trunk open and using bungee cords to keep them in.
- drive two cars to gateway trailhead (one with humans, one with tubes)
- use hand pump to blow up the tubes the last 10%
- float down to Vanover Park
- one adult stays at Vanover Park and deflates tubes while the other adult walks back to Gateway Trailhead to get a car.
- Driver adult drives one car back to Vanover Park, picks up family members and tubes
- Whole family drives back to Gateway Trailhead to get second car
- Both cars go home
We plan to get an electric pump so we can eliminate the need to take two cars by pumping the tubes at the trailhead. Besides that, is there any unlock we’re missing to make the day easier?
