My grinder has a plastic housing. It also has a tiny safety switch that gets pushed in upon revolving the hopper to start making the grind size finer after putting the hopper back on. When the plastic housing is off, the grinder works perfectly — the spinning adjustment ring engages the safety switch, and the grinder grinds. When the housing is on, the safety switch engages for a couple of seconds and then won’t engage anymore, and the grinder won’t work again until I take off the hopper and remove the housing. I’m guessing the housing is pushing against and twisting the safety switch unit out of position somehow, but why did it only start a couple of years ago after a dozen years of working perfectly? Anyone had this happen? Is there a fix? My current fix is that I just don’t use the housing, but I’m tired of dust getting all over the part of the grinder that should be protected. Also, the housing is what keeps the hopper attached, and now, regularly, the hopper tips off and spills the beans. I could tape down the safety switch to defeat it, but I do want it to, you know, help with safety.
