Carvedilol makes me feel c-c-c-cold. Ugh.

Turns out I'm one of those delicate flowers who gets side effects from everything. Had to stop taking lisinopril because my lips swelled. Had to stop taking amlodipine because my hands swelled. Metoprolol was a NIGHTMARE - had every side effect there is and it made my life miserable So fatigued, I couldn't function and all the rest: severe bloating, tinnitus, leg heaviness, anxiety -- took a few weeks but I'm finally off it although still feeling some side effects. It's only been about 10 days and I'm told it may take a few weeks for all of that drug's side effects to go away. Now I'm on hydrochlorothiazide and carvedilol -- low dosage of both and it's only been a few days. I have a little lightheadness and a little occasional nausea or mild heartburn and I feel so cold. It's 75 in my apartment but it feels like 65. ARGH. So tired of not feeling well! In the meantime, I've been working on lifestyle changes: lost 15 pounds so far, working on another 10-15, drinking more tea than coffee, more chicken, fish and veggies than red meat, try to manage the anxiety with deep breathing and talk therapy, etc. In my dreams, I'd love it if the lifestyle changes could make me medication-free. Is that unrealistic for a 70 year old woman?

Wish I'd never taken this awful drug

Took metoprolol for hypertension for about two months with ALL of the most negative side effects. Finally made it clear to my docs that I needed to STOP. Tapered slowly for a few weeks: 50 mg to 25 mg to 12.5 mg to skipping every other day and now it's been one week metoprolol -free.

Some anxiety, intermittent lightheadedness, little bit of occasional heartburn, and occasional fatigue but MUCH LESS than I had before. I'm told that it may take another couple of weeks to be free of these withdrawal symptoms.

I just want to thank you guys for being there! I'm so SICK of doctors telling me I'm imagining things when I KNOW I'm not!
