Horn Players, 1983 -Jean-Michel Basquiat. Galison 500pc. A decent build!

Came together pretty quickly in 2 sessions. I love Basquiat so this was a good thrift find, was unopened. No dust but some of the pieces not fully separated.

I have quite a stack of Galison puzzles now, I think because I really like the boxes, haha. This box is different than their usual though, styled to look like a book and also very aesthetically pleasing.

This is only the 2nd Galison I've completed, I adored the first one but keep seeing people here say how much they hate Galison so I figured I should prioritize doing a few more so I don't keep buying them if they suck (I picked up another one in the 24 hour span of having this one on my mat lol). There was a lot of shine, but otherwise I didn't have any quality issues. It wasn't the absolute joy my first Galison build was, but no real complaints. First Galison I did was made in the USA and this one was made in China, so that might be part of it.

Overall though it was a nice quick build. On the fence about keeping it but I probably will for now at least because I like the box 😁

Clementoni Positano, 1000pc. First Clementoni, wanted to do a basic landscape

Felt like it went pretty quick but it was fairly unremarkable. I did just sort of want a basic old school style photo of a landscape kind of puzzle for some reason and that's what I got.

Foreground came together quick, houses were a bit fiddly because of how small they are but not bad. Sky and water came together quickly.

My first Clementoni, I don't like how loose the fit is. It was constantly falling apart just trying to skew sections over to line up with each other etc. a bit too much glare too, but otherwise fine.

Next up I need to do a Galison because everyone seems to hate them and I keep buying them. I've done one and loved it but I should do another before I keep buying more lol

I Am Wolf, Madd Capp puzzles 300pc. Another fun quick build!

Another puzzle built in less than 24 hours, very unusual for me. But it's also the puzzle with the fewest pieces that I've done as an adult so that may have helped lol.

I'd never heard of this brand and then a few months ago I saw a scathing review of their Xmas tree puzzle. I searched and looked at other reviews and saw they were very mixed, but it seemed like the ones with fewer pieces and more distinct colours had better reviews. About 2 days later I found the wolf at a thrift store and figured he sounded like one of the good ones!

Taking it out of the box I thought it looked pretty easy actually. I got all the pieces flipped and started with the eyes and then had about 5 mins of thinking I'd maybe underestimated the difficulty as I tried to assemble the lightest bits, but pretty soon my brain settled in and it started coming together pretty smoothly. I quit last night at the WIP stage photographed, thinking it was getting harder, but this morning with much better lighting the rest came together quickly.

I had a good time with it overall. I'd recommend this one, definitely felt odd not to be able to start with the frame though lol. 2 fast puzzles done this week, think I'll crack into a nice traditional 1000pc landscape next to keep me busy for a bit 😁

I went from taking over a month lethargically finishing my last puzzle to putting this one together in 24 hours! I was really wanting a quick palate cleansing fun puzzle and I figured this would fit the bill nicely as a design my brain would enjoy.

I wasn't expecting it to be such nice quality though. I thrifted it for $3 CAD a while back and wasn't familiar with the brand but it was a nice experience. Fit was a bit looser than my ideal, but I didn't have to do much lifting and moving of sections so it wasn't a big deal. No false fits and I liked the shapes a lot.

I had thought that I was missing a piece but thankfully found it in the box at the end! Glad it's complete, I'll definitely keep this one around for when I need a quick fun build 😁

Jeeze. I am really glad to be finished with this one. It's not totally the puzzle's fault but this has been in progress for over a month and I am very sick of it. I took some progress photos but I can't be bothered to go back and find them.

I decided to try something I'd never done and didn't flip all the pieces over before starting, I just sifted through the box. It made things go faster to start but was definitely a lot slower overall. The positive was this allowed me to puzzle on the couch with my board on my lap, but overall probably not something I would repeat.

I started with the white border, turns out I find small unconnected images on a plain background to be pretty bland. But the main image wasn't really a lot better. Some parts came together pretty well but the nature of the painted image is that everything was just sort of vague shapes. Quality was fine, no false fits, no issues with the print quality but just the nature of the image. And I got unlucky with thrifting lottery this time and had 2 missing pieces, but on this puzzle I don't really care tbh.

About a week after starting I lost my cat very suddenly. He was my little puzzle helper so I had no interest in puzzling for a few weeks. I finally got back to it this past week but I was even less into this particular puzzle coming back to it than I was before, but it was over half done and it wasn't totally bad so I wanted to get it done.

Looking forward to some palate cleansing puzzles now. Maybe something small or a design I know I'll really love and have been saving.

Sorry for the downer review. Hug your cats for me, look up the signs of feline heart disease. It can come on faster than you'd think.
