[KCD1] A love letter to Kingdom Come Deliverance 1.

I am writing this because when I was deciding whether or not to buy this game, I came across many reviews that were very mixed and didn’t help me in my decision. I hope that this finds someone in a similar position and convinces them to buy this absolute gem.

Let me start off by saying how beautiful and immersive this game is. the graphics are amazing for a non triple A game made in 2018. in fact, the graphics are amazing, period. player animations are very fluid, especially in combat. riding your horse through the countryside is very reminiscent of RDR2 only in Central Europe.

Also this is one of the most detailed games I’ve ever played, but it doesn’t handhold the player. Your character gets hungry, injured, drunk, and more. There is load management and a need for sleep. but even beyond that, there’s stuff that makes this game feel even more real. sometimes, your character needs to ask for directions. Or you’ll fail a part of a quest you have to complete, but instead of restarting it you complete it a completely different way. Food spoils. NPCs treat you different depending on what you’re wearing. it’s amazing.

Another praise is the voice acting. it is done especially well, especially by the main character.

One thing I read frequently in this game is that it is rather unpolished and clunky, and I must say I have to disagree. my game hardly ever bugs out and combat is significantly better than I was lead to believe it would be. Even group combat, which I admit isn’t the easiest, is very manageable. Basically, this game has the polish of a triple A game and It needs the credit it deserves for that.

That being said, no game is perfect. if you’re the kind of gamer that needs to be doing something very significant every questline, or needs your character to be the chosen one, this game isn’t for you. the games quests can be very trivial at times, and at the beginning your character isn’t skilled with a sword, bow, or able to read. although, its significantly easier to progress these skills than some other reviews may lead you to believe.

Also pickpocketing and lockpicking are impossible.

Lastly, I need to emphasize how rewarding this game feels. When you beat the odds early in the game by killing a couple bandits, it makes you feel like you’re really special. And the NPCs treat you special! There were multiple times when I surprised an npc early game with my prowess and they not only rewarded me but praised me, and because this game is so immersive and real it really feels good. Every coin earned is a victory, every quest completed only makes other characters value you more.

i bought the royal edition on PlayStation for 8$ and was unsure even at that price on whether I’d like it because of what I’d read about the game. I’m here to tell you it’s worth full price, no doubt in my mind.

[KCD1] You guys have Henry all wrong. He’s that guy.

I recently started Kingdom come deliverance 1 for the first time. I’m new to the franchise, as I was persuaded to buy the royal edition on ps5 for 8$ after reading some reviews.

the thing is, every review I had read prior said the same thing:

that Henry isn’t special.

and to a degree this may be true, at the start of the game he can’t read, has no possessions or family. he is a true lowly peasant. and while he may not be a part of a “chosen one” prophecy or anything like that, he has a few special powers:

Grit, determination and courage.

granted, I’ve only just rescued Hans capon. but I mean come on, he just rescued Hans capon, the future lord of rattay, and killed two Cubans with hardly any combat experience (at least in my play through because I’ve found myself being quite good at the combat). not to mention this guy is determined to move up in the world. working for the bailiff and now sir radzig, earning groschen left and right, becoming a fearsome knight even in the early game.

Basically all I’m saying is that the reviews i read should have put more respect on my boy’s name. Henry is a dawg.

What’s the best way to drain influence from the ruling party? (Specifically derthert)

super niche question here but I’m doing a hostile takeover of Vlandia by draining all the clan’s influence down to 0, expelling them and taking their fiefs.

derthert and I are both at 2k influence, and I want to know what the best vote is to start that will make derthert spend more influence than it took to propose the vote. any help is appreciated!

Is it just me or did bannerlord get a graphics update?

sorry for the bad pic, but do yall know something I don’t? because I took like a 6 month break from the game, and when I come back, at the very least the lighting looks better? idk. I just know I remember thinking this game looked worse than Skyrim and now it’s really not that bad.

Been a little too successful as a Vlandian vassal. What do I do now?

As the title says, I’m a vlandian vassal and we’ve absolutely dominated our war against Battania. We’ll probably end up wiping them out, and that will make Vlandia very, very powerfull.

I’m pretty sure this is bad news for me, because I want to eventually start my own kingdom and hopefully conquer the entire continent. But if I’m leaving Vlandia that strong, how do I go about things?

basically I’m asking what my strategy should be. I own seonon and car banseth and make about 7k a day, and I’m about to hit clan tier 3. Do I eventually break off and take my fiefs? Do I leave the fiefs? do I stay vlandian and kill derthert somehow? Do I have vlandia purposfully lose wars? How would I even do those last two things?

if it’s not clear, im rather new to the game and don’t have a ton of strategy experience (I have played a prior save where I made my own kingdom but couldn’t retain my fiefs) so any help is appreciated, thanks!
