[OTHER] What Kingdom Come Got Right (and Wrong) – From the Game’s Historian Joanna Nowak
A few days ago, there was a lovely video essay posted on here about the colour blue in the world of KCD2. Since a lot of you enjoyed that, I figured it'd be good to post this podcast episode I came across a while ago, which features Warhorse's historian Joanna Nowak discussing historical details in tandem with decisions regarding game design. She touched on the choice of blue, for example, but goes into a variety of other things too.
I found it to be such an interesting listen, and for whatever reason, it doesn't have that many views lol. Here's hoping some of you enjoy it too!
(and if by some cosmic chance Joanna or someone from Warhorse's team comes across this, please please please make more of these! it's so interesting to hear about the behind the scenes process for games, as well as the history your team is drawing from. Joanna is such a brilliant speaker, who I'm sure so many people would love to hear more from <3)
[KCD2] "Absolver" fun Detail.
So when doing the Quest i thought to myself "in this day in age, where all Games only sell the illusion of choice, what Happens when i make 2 copies of the Absolver sword.
And on top of that, can i both Put a Copy into the owners chest and give the second Copy to the questgiver, so that i own the original."
And im delighted to say That this is indeed Something you can do .
Why dont more Games give us solutions to Quests Like this.
Why must it Always be a scripted one way ending or a choice of 2 samey endings, If Games Like KCD2 Show that free choice, even in small aspects Like this, Bring huge Joy and make the Game more fun...
[KCD2] Was ist euer Lieblingspferd bei KCD2?
Was sind eure Lieblingspferde?
[KCD2] almost lost it XD
Don't mind the fit, just started a new playthrough and this happened XD
In Response to the Guy with the 700h in both games asking what you should do now: Play More! thats what you should do now. [Other]
Just Play more bro. its always worth it.
[KCD2] After needing some time away from a screen playing KCD, I decided to draw all of the hares from KCD.
I normally do pencil sketches so this was quite a new challenge for me, but I'm mostly happy with it. I did not anticipate how much space I'd need for each hare, which is why they all are cropped from the full icon.
The pens I used weren't great either but for a first proper attempt doing colour cartoons, I'm happy with how it looks.
Did I find the earliest example of a Glory Hole in Western Civilization? [KCD2]
Thoughts? That Kryzel is a pervert.
[KCD2] HEAVY WEAPONS!!
After playing kcd1 with a mace and shield I expected my kcd2 Heinrich to do the same but they removed the master strike from heavy weapons which bummed me out for a while until I found this, bonking enemies to death will always be superior. Now I'm glad they removed the masterstike feinting your attacks is so much more rewarding!!
[KCD2] Inspired me to make a comic! Dame of Loisel: The Bridge!
I played KCD1 when it first came out years ago and loved it and this year fell deep in love (or maybe addiction???) with KCD2 and so fueled by that and my passion for knights and medieval history/historical fiction. (Especially the works of Christian Cameron in his Chivalry series! Which I recommend greatly to any fan of KCD1&2) We drew from Henry's one cover armor design of KCD2 with part of the main characters outfit haha. It just looks so cool.
Anyway I figured you guys might enjoy it! Thestrays.artz (myself) was the writer and colorist and my buddy (Nowar.artz) who I forced to play the game and watch AKOTSK was the artist!
Dame of Loisel: The Bridge follows Dame Vivienne de Loisel and her Lance as they are tasked with protecting a bridge during a battle between two Dukes.
its free to read to anyone: https://globalcomix.com/c/the-bridge/r/f6502f72-c1ab-49be-9f82-1e0a1a53a042
[KCD2] KCD2 is now available on PS+ !
KCD2 has been added globally free on PS+! If you are a console player, I personally can fully recommend it, having had over 100+ hours over 3 months of playing. I do have slight buyer's remorse, because it did cost me 20$, which is way more than the ps+ pass I already hold to play other games, but I'm not too upset, because it's a great game regardless, and I'm sure this community will only get bigger with higher inflow of console players.
[KCD2] Why do the nips only appear when you get told to leave?
[KCD1] A love letter to Kingdom Come Deliverance 1.
I am writing this because when I was deciding whether or not to buy this game, I came across many reviews that were very mixed and didn’t help me in my decision. I hope that this finds someone in a similar position and convinces them to buy this absolute gem.
Let me start off by saying how beautiful and immersive this game is. the graphics are amazing for a non triple A game made in 2018. in fact, the graphics are amazing, period. player animations are very fluid, especially in combat. riding your horse through the countryside is very reminiscent of RDR2 only in Central Europe.
Also this is one of the most detailed games I’ve ever played, but it doesn’t handhold the player. Your character gets hungry, injured, drunk, and more. There is load management and a need for sleep. but even beyond that, there’s stuff that makes this game feel even more real. sometimes, your character needs to ask for directions. Or you’ll fail a part of a quest you have to complete, but instead of restarting it you complete it a completely different way. Food spoils. NPCs treat you different depending on what you’re wearing. it’s amazing.
Another praise is the voice acting. it is done especially well, especially by the main character.
One thing I read frequently in this game is that it is rather unpolished and clunky, and I must say I have to disagree. my game hardly ever bugs out and combat is significantly better than I was lead to believe it would be. Even group combat, which I admit isn’t the easiest, is very manageable. Basically, this game has the polish of a triple A game and It needs the credit it deserves for that.
That being said, no game is perfect. if you’re the kind of gamer that needs to be doing something very significant every questline, or needs your character to be the chosen one, this game isn’t for you. the games quests can be very trivial at times, and at the beginning your character isn’t skilled with a sword, bow, or able to read. although, its significantly easier to progress these skills than some other reviews may lead you to believe.
Also pickpocketing and lockpicking are impossible.
Lastly, I need to emphasize how rewarding this game feels. When you beat the odds early in the game by killing a couple bandits, it makes you feel like you’re really special. And the NPCs treat you special! There were multiple times when I surprised an npc early game with my prowess and they not only rewarded me but praised me, and because this game is so immersive and real it really feels good. Every coin earned is a victory, every quest completed only makes other characters value you more.
i bought the royal edition on PlayStation for 8$ and was unsure even at that price on whether I’d like it because of what I’d read about the game. I’m here to tell you it’s worth full price, no doubt in my mind.
What am I supposed to do now? [KCD1], [KCD2]
Just finished Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 & 2 with 100% achievements.
Now what?
I wasn't prepared for this.
PS: Steam updated KCD2 hours, so now its 640 hours total.
[KCD2] Bro just casually walked it off
Glad i've only "nearly" ran into him he could've gotten injured
