taking a trip to birmingham in mid october. wondering where the safest hotels are located? safest areas in the city?
I am traveling with my girlfriend ( from Florida ) for Furnace Fest, and we will be staying 3-4 nights. We’ve both read on the high crime there and it’s making us a little nervous. We’re lesbian, so I’m also unsure if that makes us a higher target for crime in that city specifically. We both know to always be aware of our surroundings etc. . I’m mainly curious where our safest options would be to stay. The festival we’re going to is at the sloss furnaces so a hotel nearby would be perfect, but I also want to be sure that it’s in a safe area. I know tourists are usually less likely to be victims of violent crimes and those statistics more so affect people who live there permanently, but I still like being aware/safe. Any advice or info helps. 😊
