Alabamians voted for an idiot
Why would you people vote for Tommy Tuberville?
The guy doesn't even know the 3 branches of the government
(I would attach a YouTube link, but the rules don't allow it, just Google it yourself)
I hope Doug Jones wins come this November! What are his chances?

aldailynews.comLooking to spread elderberry trees, need landowner blessings
This is a longshot but, hey I'm your local elderberry nut job! I love them, the flowers, the berries, the fact they're native to the area and that birds and other native animals need them to thrive. They're great in almost every yard, field, treeline, and will quickly reseed and take over an ugly area and give you a functioning food forest in a fairly short amount of time, think 3-5 years. So, I will be taking about 100 cuttings and planting them next year, but want to get ahead of that and just ask if anyone wants them. It's free, seriously, I just need a place to plant them. Preferably in West Alabama, near the Tuscaloosa - Birmingham area would be best but I don't mind a short drive.
EDIT: everyone has been added to the list. Come back next February and we'll work the logistics out
What are your thoughts on advocating for Alabama supporting farmers?

Which political campaign commercial/s are you hoping to never see again?
My top pick-Anything with Jay Mitchell.
I got this Calling All Cooks Cookbook that is supposed to be one of the top cookbooks from Alabama, but I’m having a hard time finding out information on it. Any favorite recipes?
A surge of voting in the Alabama Democratic primary (regardless of one's party affiliation) will send a message to the legislature
If you're an Independent that is disgusted with the enthusiasm with which the Alabama legislature is gerrymandering away black congressional representatives...vote in the Democratic primary.
If you're a Republican pissed off that Alabama Republicans just validated every accusation of racism against your party...vote in the Democratic primary.
If you're a Democrat that doesn't bother to vote in the primary because "they're just going to lose anyway," this one time add your vote to up the total to one where politicians will take notice. Vote in the Democratic primary.

Would Alabama ever invest in offshore solar power?
(apologies if this is a double-post. I don't see my first attempt)
I recently had an idea for offshore solar power, and thought it might work for Alabama. After a little research, it turns out there are companies working on the technology, as well as offshore wind power.
I have no idea whether it's actually a promising technology, but to my mind it sounds like it could be. Do you think Alabama will ever invest in this, or should they?
‘They may draw racist maps, but we are the south’: thousands rally in Alabama for Black voting rights: People came to Montgomery by bus, car and plane to march on the state capitol with local and national leaders
Part 1 of 3:
- Thousands of people from across the country descended on Montgomery, the capital of Alabama, on Saturday. They arrived by bus, by car and by plane to gather for the All Roads Lead to the South rally, following the supreme court’s Louisiana v Callais decision last month, which essentially gutted the Voting Rights Act and severely limited protections against voting discrimination.
>Organized by a coalition of national and local civic engagement groups, the rally took place outside the Alabama state capitol building, in the same plaza where the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches – three nonviolent demonstrations in support of Black voting rights – are enshrined.
- “We’re here, Montgomery, not at a stopping point, but at a starting point,” Steven L Reed, mayor of Montgomery and the first Black person to hold the position, told the crowd. “We’re here in this city because of the spirit, because of the courage and because of the commitment of our forefathers and foremothers who got us to this point.”
Friendly reminder that Alabama primaries are May 19
Please vote. Local and state elections honestly impact our everyday lives more than most people realize — sometimes more directly than presidential elections.
Do a little research on the candidates, especially regarding large AI/data center projects, land use, energy concerns, and whether officials are actually representing local communities instead of corporate interests.
Even if we all disagree politically, participating still matters. Better than complaining about things. Voting is how real change occurs.
You can do your research before you go vote and thoroughly check out the candidates:
https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/2026-primary-election-sample-ballots
Some people are also looking into campaign funding and lobbying influence, including AIPAC-related funding:
https://www.trackaipac.com/states/alabama
**From what I’ve personally seen so far, some of the more establishment/pro-development candidates people point to regarding AI/data center expansion are Republicans like Tommy Tuberville, Steve Marshall, Chris Beeker III, and Caroleene Dobson, while Democrats often mentioned in that conversation include Doug Jones, Mark S. Wheeler II, and James O. Gordon.
Some candidates people see as more likely to question or push back on large data center projects and utility/corporate influence include Republicans like Jim Zeigler and Ken McFeeters, while on the Democratic side some people point more toward outsider/community-focused candidates like Yolanda Rochelle Flowers, Jamel J. Brown, and Nathan “Nate” Mathis.
Please do your own research and come to your own conclusions. And if you genuinely don’t know enough about a candidate, it’s completely okay to leave that section blank instead of blindly voting.

people.comAnyone have experience with Alabama Virtual Schools?
Our local school system is pretty bad once they get out of elementary school. We’re thinking about enrolling in virtual school but don’t see much of the pros and cons from families who participate.
