How to best prewash linen?

So I'm about to make my first Linen garment and am thinking about how to prewash it, and the consensus seems to be:

-Wash it hot (maybe more than once) to get the shrikage linen fabric is prone to out of the way. (Tumble dry hot as well??)

-Iron while a bit wet.

-Soak in vinegar to soften it??? (I've seen stuff about soaking it in something, but I don't know what. It's a light green, so I don't want to damage the color.)

-Hem/Sew the raw edges together or "overlock" the raw edges before washing.

Is there anything to add? Or am I overthinking stuff, and should just wash the fabric the same as normal and not do anything special?
