Question: How erect should my music be? (forte, fortissimo, etc.)

C'mon we all know that composers who use ffffffffffff!!!!<<<<< are just full mast all of the time.

But I think we can do better than 3 (fff like Beethoven) or 4 (ffff like Rachmaninoff).

Basically, how many fortes can you add before it's an unquestionable jerk?

(I don't want to larp like Ligeti and pretend I can go all the way to 10, unless...

/uj was Ligeti hung? /rj W*gner only pulled a 3 once lol bro was a 2)

How am I supposed to use slurs?

I was asking for some advice on r/composer and someone told me to add slurs to my music to highlight the melody.

I thought this was a brilliant idea so I tried to post the results and instead I got banned from the community? Not really sure what happened... Tried again on r/piano and yep, same thing.

The original commenter was telling me that all of the greatest composers (Bach, Wagner, etc.) used a ton of slurs. The Google AI Overview seems to agree (not sure what modern legato markings really mean but I digress). I would appreciate any and all advice, thank you!

Is Italian larp?

QUESTION TO THE ITALIAN MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY ONLY.

Can I use terms like appassionato or espressivo even if I am not Italian? Don't want to offend anyone, thanks.

PS: Would also appreciate some clarification on half-Italian words like piano and crescendo.

Scriabin has small hands, so why does he write for large hands? Is he compensating for something?

While playing some Scriabin I was shocked to see that some of the chords are quite large which would require big hands to play. This is odd because Scriabin himself is known for having very small hands, but despite that still being a virtuoso. The picture is from scriabin's sonata no. 6 first couple of bars.

There are also many more examples like 3 etudes opus 65 where the first etude is based on ninths. This is physically impossible to play with hands like scriabin (and hands like mine😢)

I can't help but feel that he was compensating for something.

Piece update: Thanks for the help! That German quote added a ton of aura

This is the first measure what do you think!! Musescore won't let me put accents on rests which I Think is stupid but the rest came out pretty cool. Am I missing anything?? I think I'm pretty maxed out but I'm open to new ideas.

Which do I max: espressivo or appassionato?

Which one will make my music better faster? I want my music to be expressive but also passionate. Should I just include both markings? And are they supposed to be in every measure or scattered here and there? Thanks, just want my op 1 no 1 to be perfect before I release it.
