Thought i would make my first post and share my journey with a few photos on my first sim rig, which i have just finished this weekend (never truly finished though, am i right?)

I caught the bug from a few videos on reels and a Fanatec CSL DD kit popped up on facebook marketplace and it quickly spiralled from there to where we are now.

I have a r34 skyline drift car, so i wanted to drive drift tracks around the world and get into iRacing, so it needed to work for both, the controls are modelled off my r34 skyline and everything is adjustable apart from the reverse swing pedal, unless spacers are added.

The mission was to get everything done on a budget of $1500 AUD, while i have failed that task (coming in at approx $1875) for everything seen here, i am very happy with the extra’s i have opted for which pushed it over that budget.

I am a all or nothing kind of person, if it wasn’t a good immersive unit, i would pick it up and put it down, i have wanted a sim rig for years but friends have had basic g29 setups i tried and it just was never me. (No hate here, btw) If i was doing it, i was doing it properly (without spending the world, of course). Having an actual drift car i needed to do the best i could do to make it as realistic as possible.

The screens i landed on i traded some time / labour for, and work pretty well for what i need, my pc is able to drive them on good quality / high ultra settings at around 110-120 frames, powered by a 3060ti. Are they the best? No. But i have zero complaints for something i was able to offset my cost against. They are 640mm from my eyes and on a 61° angle, giving me a good FOV (well, i think so in my limited use of this)

The last 2% immersion items really made it for me, the 8nm upgrade kit (yes, the aliexpress kit works!) the bezel delete kits (again, aliexpress units blur the bezels and i couldn’t expect much better at the $86 price point, looks amazing in game!) and the 2x haptic bass shakers i have running through simhub have made it very immersive, it feels about as good as i would imagine from a sim, even though i have built the entire rig from scratch having never sat in anything better than a desk mount.

Now, to actually learn to race and drift!

Any improvements or ideas welcome, i want to play with some Arduino units and maybe add some wind or something else.
