UAMS Semester Tracks

Hey all!

I’m planning to start UAMS this coming fall. I have my interview set for tomorrow morning. I’m sure she will ask if I want to do the 3, 4, or 5 semester tracks.

Has anyone else done one of these tracks? How hard is it to work full time while doing say the 3 semester track? I’d love to get it done asap but I also want to be sure that I am not overloading myself.

Thank you!

What are some good meals to pack for my work lunches?

Not sure this is the right place to ask this sort of question but I’ve been at a loss for good meal ideas. I’m getting quite tired of the same sorts of things each day and would like to switch it up.

I normally go for a cold meal of sorts something nice and easy to prepare in the morning or before bed. Usually something simple like a salad or a sandwich. I’d like a healthy option that I could maybe meal prep at the start of the week. I’m not too picky, but I’m not much for tuna. Thanks!

Please help me know what to study for the ASCP MLT exam!

I take my exam in 3-4 weeks. I have access to LabCE and have been getting 48-52% with 4.5-4.9 difficulty. I’m worried this is too low and I haven’t been improving much even after reviewing and studying harder topics. I used wordsology for some high yield studying in between exams as well as my teachers old PowerPoints.

I also have the ASCP BOC exam simulator, on those I average between 60-65%. I recently have gotten the purple and yellow book and Polansky flashcards. I have been making my way through the purple and yellow book and briefly glanced at the flashcards.

Is there anything that helped you pass the exam? Maybe a study technique or a resource has the best information related to the actual exam? I don’t want to study too many different things at once I feel like it may be counterproductive. I’m so nervous for this test any guidance would be so very appreciated. TIA!

Sincerely a very stressed new grad.

Is it normal for your lab to not clean oil off of the objectives?

I recently did my clinical in three separate labs. Each lab I had been in did not clean the oil off of their objectives! Does anyone else’s lab do this? Is this normal? I could see the oil seeping into the 100x on one of the microscopes leaving a weird streaking that is always present even after being cleaned.
