Should weaning be this difficult?

My little boy is 6.5 months and we have started to wean a couple of weeks ago. The thing is he gets so frustrated. I have tried spoon feeding, giving him the spoon to feed himself puree and then whole pieces of the food.

He will take a few bites from a spoon and then has a complete meltdown if I try and help him, so I pop him back on the boob.

Or if I give him, let’s say, a whole floret of broccoli, he chucks it on the floor because he does not like the texture. Then meltdown, then boob.

All this to say, is this normal? Is this just what comes with weaning. I’m just worried my breastmilk won’t be enough and I’m struggling with formula as it’s Pepti 2, so obviously he hates the taste.

I thought weaning would be fun but it’s not 😭
