Lucca Tuscan Kitchen 👌

Not sure why it took so long for my delivery apps to suggest this place, but holy shit was it good. Got the Morta and the Bad Lucy and the Morta might be one of the best traditional Italian deli sandwiches I've ever had.

About a year ago I asked you all for food recommendations and I built a Google Maps list with all your suggestions. I'm going to share an update post on all the places I've tried since, but this place is newer so didn't make the list. It's a must try and absolutely blows the American chains we are inundated by out of the water (Jimmie John's, Firehouse Subs aand Jersey Mike's down the street from each other is criminal).

Barrie is full of hidden gems, highly recommend trying this one out!!

City Hall/Downtown is an embarrassment

I walked by City Hall today and witnessed a person likely under the influence trying to pick fights with anyone who crossed his path. He took a full swing at a man entering City Hall, missed, then ran towards me and tried to throw a used medical mask at me. I was on the phone, put it down and told him to get the fuck away from me, and he ran off to the next group of people to harass.

I walk back to my car and see two cops talking to another sketchy looking person, completely oblivious to what's happening up the road, nevermind the 10+ hanging outside the court house staring at me as I enter my car, or staring at the women coming in/out of Crescent Health. Tried to hang around to talk to the cops, but they were too dialed into whatever was happening with their guy, and I had to get to work. Hopefully no one else got attacked by the medical mask man.

What a miserable part of town, and the irony that it's fucking City Hall.

Tomorrow there are dragon boat races, oh and festivities and farmer's markets. Make your way DWNTWN, Barrie!

And people love to defend it in the comments and say this exists everywhere and it's no worse than Toronto. Bullshit. It feels and looks worse here, period. I challenge you to find an area downtown Toronto that feels this bad. I feel safer in the worst parts of Toronto than what should be the best part of Barrie.

One guy looked like he was fucking dead and his friends were thing to slap him alive.

I wish the city would do literally anything productive to fix the mess that is the heart of downtown.
