How many points need to be in find traps in the first game to be able to deal with traps? Trying to figure out what points I can spend on other skills. Baeloth will knock locks so I’m shooting for a thief to just be able to find and set traps (not a backstab fan).

Edit:

Ok, when I’m talking about an NPC thief so I’m not spending for the trilogy, just BG1.

I’m not using a tome for a thief for one game.

Thieves come with some skill points already in picking locks that handles the bulk of the locks. And yes, I don’t mind using a second level spell when I don’t really use second level spells and Baeloth has 6 at the low level he’s at right now.

I didn’t post this as me saying picking locks is a worthless skill. I’m saying for this particular play through I’m doing something different. I didn’t realize that people would get so defensive over a play style. I guess the only way to play the game for some people is to use a meta party for everything.
