Like, to me, they just feel like nothing but rewordings of "the man/woman in the relationship" or "who wears the pants". A really blunt way to voice my problem with those terms is "it just feels like heteronormativity reapplied back onto queer people".
If you identify as one of those, that's of course fine. I just really don't identify with any of, nor "switch" and I often feel like people just feel like "you must be one of those options". I just think it's super reductive.
Edit: People seem to be assuming I think of "top"/"bottom" as "man"/"woman" which totally isn't the case. I just feel like reducing sex to "top" and "bottom" is equally weird as reducing it to "the male role" and "the female role". And no, I'm not talking about how certain positions have someone being the top and someone being the bottom.
