Convergence insufficiency - real or predatory

There is a vision practice near us that is marketing on the premise that a lot of children diagnosed as ADHD actually have convergence insufficiency.

I know a parent whose child was at our school, said to have ADHD, and who the parent says now was all mislabeling and their child’s issues were all “cured” by a year of expensive vision exercises for convergence insufficiency. So she is now evangelizing it to all parents who have kids with attention issues.

This clinic doesn’t accept insurance, so it’s $1000s and $1000s out of pocket.

Does anyone have experience with this?

From my research it seems that convergence insufficiency is a thing. But my spidey sense is going off and wondering if this is mostly a cash grab and the clinic is way over diagnosing it and preying on parents who don’t want to accept their child has adhd?

If this is so often a cause why doesn’t our pediatrician suggest that in the typical testing battery? I will ask our dr the next time we are there but they are a long standing practice in a highly regarded system so it’s just strange it wouldn’t be discussed at all if it truly is so common?
