I’m specifically referring to the track “Kill The King“. I was listening to this album the other night when it dawned on me that this song in particular is a lot like the Power Metal that I frequent.

While I know this is not exactly a true PM song, I do like to think of this as the precursor to the genre. A lot of us credit DIO as a singer for laying the foundations of PM with his vocal techniques and lyrical themes.

So, what is your favorite Power Metal song before Power Metal?

I found a vinyl pressing of Hell Over Sofia at Rough Trade NYC. I bought it for about $50 which is totally worth it in my mind because I literally never see this album fairly priced… EVER.
