Totally irrelevant to anything, but every time i see a pic of him this is all I can see. Most likely intentional so the visor isn’t in his field of view, still looks funny.

Hockey players working around mandatory equipment measures that are meant to protect them has long been one of my favourite little details to observe.

Similar to the neck guards being folded over and taped so they aren’t actually protecting anything, or visors being tilted up so high. Or removing the cuffs off of gloves, leaving wrists completely un protected. Very popular amongst Russian players.
