Huge win for the Oregon Dunes and coastal martens! Federal judge blocks commercial OHV permits and orders key habitat closures
Finally some accountability for our public lands and local wildlife! A federal judge just handed down a massive ruling holding the U.S. Forest Service accountable for ignoring the Endangered Species Act regarding the threatened coastal marten.
Aside from shutting down areas like Banshee Hill and parts of the Umpqua Dunes, the ruling halts commercial off-road special-use permits across the dunes until the agency actually does its job and completes proper environmental reviews.
Unbelievably glad to see the ecosystem getting some much-needed breathing room and legal defense.
