PNW Roadtrip!

Hi friends!

My boyfriend and I are taking an anniversary roadtrip up the west coast this fall (Oct-Nov). I already have Air BNBs booked and have a general idea of where we want to go / what we want to see, but this is going to be my first time on the west coast ever, so I figured i would ask for any recommendations of parks, local food/bev favorites, ect! :)

(We love reading and movies so any bookstores or fun places like that are a bonus. BF also loves all history if you have any good recommendations of things to see in that aspect)

We are starting in San Francisco and driving up to Seattle to end things off! Any tips/advice would also be greatly appreciated!! Mostly concerned on how to pack, I’m expecting rain which is totally fine because I love that type of weather but when does snow typically start? What is the temp range? Again I plan on packing layers but I am also a worrier LOL.

Thank you!! :)

(i’ve attached our planned route, but am definitely open to straying for us to see cool things!!)

UPDATE: YOU ALL PERSUADED ME!!! WE WILL STAY ON THE COAST🥳

US route 20 runs across the country, connecting both coasts. The east end of the highway in Boston (pop of 5 million) has a sign for the west end of the highway in Newport, Oregon (pop of 11,000), and vice versa

Less popular beaches

Hello!! What are some good beaches on the northern Oregon coast that are are lesser known, meaning there won’t be huge crowds there (specifically mid June)?

Also ones that can be accessed during high tide

I am aiming to propose and don’t want a huge audience.

Fogerty creek accessibility?

Hi all! My family and I are looking for a place to go tide pooling, but a few members of our group have some mobility issues. We can walk a little bit (< a quarter mile). Is it worth it? Thanks!

SFO to Seattle via Oregon Coast in 5 days

Hi there folks, I've got this trip planned and after reading some posts here I'm doubting whether it's gonna be too much driving and less fun. Plan is to checkout Redwood Np briefly and do a PCH roadtrip.

Thursday, May 21: Drive SFO to Klamath.

Friday, May 22: Explore Redwood NP until noon then drive up to Newport. Enjoy the coast highway, stop at natural bridges and a few other spots.

Saturday, May 23: Drive up to Rockaway Beach and stay for 2 nights. (Already have the cabin booked) Checkout cannon beach and nearby places and relax a bit.

Monday, May 25: Drive to Seattle. End of trip.

Are the Bunnies still in Cannon Beach?

A few years ago there was many bunnies by Cannon beach, around Mo’s. Are they still hopping around? I have a friend visiting who would love to see them but I don’t wanna make the drive if somebody has rounded them up!

Lincoln City Proposal Spots?

Hello! I am proposing to my partner this August in Lincoln city. I’m from Eugene and have been up there a handful of times but I’m wondering if there’s any spots that are more secluded on the beach or overlooking the beach that could be good for proposing and getting good pictures at? I have a photographer but sadly she hasn’t been up there much either!! Any advice/suggestions are appreciated.

How are conditions around Aug 31st to first week in September?

Hi everyone. Hope you are all having a great day. I am from south Florida. Planning a mount hood to Oregon coast (cannon beach to Newport and back) vs a trip to Acadia Maine. My days free so far are Aug 31 to sept 5th.

Any red flags in Oregon for this date? Am I better off going to Maine?

Any advice and info GREATLY appreciated. Of note: my goal is hiking, sight seeing, and bird / wildlife photography

Beach Towel Tuesdays in Seaside This Summer

Visiting Seaside?

Today we launched a new summer program we're calling Beach Towel Tuesdays. Every Tuesday through summer, the first five visitor groups who post a fun Seaside photo or video on social media and stop by the Welcome Center get a free limited-edition Seaside beach towel.

Could be beach selfies, swan boats, sandy kids, arcade games, Prom biking, coffee stops, bumper cars or sunsets… whatever your version of Seaside fun looks like. We want to see them!

Details here if you want them:

Wedding Venues in Lincoln City

Hello,

I’m having a wedding at the end of this upcoming August in Lincoln City. 25-40 guests. We are nearly set up with a venue right now, but a little hesitant to sign with it because of some other conflicts. Does anyone have any good recommendations on venue locations with either a full or partial view of the beach? Not interested in Pelican, any resorts, or the casino. More so looking for a community center type thing where it’s a raw venue and we have full control of decor and catering.

Also if anyone has any experience with the cultural center or the Spotlight event center, can you share if it was positive and a good venue? And maybe some photos because I can’t find much online.

I have searched through the subreddit but can’t find anything specific to LC. It has to be there because all of our guests including us are traveling from Portland and have hotels booked already. Thank you in advance! Just looking for some back up options late in the planning process.
