Raised S-AST
Hello fellow carnies.
Long story short, got diagnosed with pretty severe fatty liver due to a genetic issue where I literally can't digest glucose properly + diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, IBS, fibromyalgia and pre-diabetes (not sedentary, been slightly overweight according to BMI but have also packed some muscle).
Been strict carnivore for 120 days since diagnosed (was carnivore for 2 years like 7 years ago, fell off when I met my now fiance). Have always been relatively physically active.
I eat 3000-3500kcal, between 70-90% kcal from fat, mostly butter and tallow. I've been feeling amazing, lethargy gone, pains decreased and IBS almost non existent.
Got my new labs(4 months later), and my S-AST increased from 1.05 ukat/L to 3.84ukat/L. Reference is <0.75ukat/L.
However ALT decreased significantly from 3.23 to 1.02ukat/L (reference <1.2ukat/L).
Can this be a temporary increase of S-AST due to a significant intake of fat? For some odd reason the doctor didn't take new labs of hbA1C, triglycerides, LDL, HDL, or antibodies for the autoimmune hepatitis.
Thanks in advance!
