What's In Your RFY? Friday 26th June

A £50 staple gun. I can't imagine what makes a staple gun worth £50 but I'm about to find out.

Any recs like Not That Duke and Four Nights With The Duke by Eloisa James?

I absolutely love {Not That Duke} and {Four Nights with The Duke by Eloisa James} and cant find anything else anywhere that hits the spot for me. Not even in Eloisa James's own backlist. I'm craving romances like this where the hero (usually an all-powerful duke or other important alpha male type) initially overlooks the more ordinary/plain heroine and thinks he doesnt want her or specifically dislikes her. It takes for him to learn her good qualities and he becomes obsessed but continues to fight his feelings hard and refuses to fall for her (because he genuinely believes his happiness lies elsewhere for good reasons or traumatic backstory) and yet he cant get the darn woman out of his head. I love authentically written regency romances with lots and lots of ANGST and pining on the female side. I love the heroine to fall in love first but know that she cant have this man because he would never looks twice at her. Perhaps she has even been secretly in love with him for years.

Other books that fit this for me are {The Second Lady Silverwood by Emma Orchard} where she's secretly loved him for years but watched him fall for and marry the season's diamond and then years later he's a traumatised widower and she's a governess and they meet again and {Aphrodite by D.G. Rampton) where the hero is already engaged to an OW before he meets the heroine and he is initially prejudiced towards the heroine. I actually do like some good OW drama. And I like my heroine to be the quiet, overlooked and mature sort rather than the flashy, feisty beauty. Bring me poor relations and forced to be governesses or overlooked spinster older sisters galore. Please?!

Any book recs like Alice Coldbreath's Vawdrey/Karadoc series?

I absolutely love Alice Coldbreath's Vawdrey Brothers and Karadoc series. {His Forsaken Bride} is my absolute favourite. It's amazing to see the uptight, all-powerful spymaster Oswald fall hard for plain jane Fenella and get obsessed against his will. aha. Can anyone recommend any other authors or specific books that you think I might like? The medieval type setting doesnt matter much for me - what I love most is powerful heroes who fall for ordinary women but fight their feelings hard to begin with. Plus her books read authentically for the period and have wonderful steam. I even like her prizefighters series for the same reason - alpha heroes who fall for an ordinary heroine against their will but fight their feelings hard and yet grow obsessed and protective as the romance progresses. I usually prefer regency romances, so would welcome those as recs.
