NovaRed’s Wilmac Project Is Starting To Resemble A Real Porphyry System
The latest technical release from NovaRed Mining (CSE: NRED / OTCQB: NREDF) may be one of the more important updates the company has published because it provides a much clearer picture of what could exist beneath the Lamont Grid at the Wilmac Copper-Gold Project in British Columbia.
According to the company, historical 3DIP/AMT work completed in late 2024 outlined two interpreted parent intrusive bodies that appear to coalesce at depth into a larger composite intrusive complex. Multiple upward-extending pipe-like features were also identified, which is the type of geometry exploration teams often look for in porphyry environments before drill targeting begins.
The technical details are substantial. The survey consisted of 7 lines spaced 300 meters apart with lengths ranging from 2,400 meters to 2,800 meters and station spacing of 100 meters. AMT data reportedly penetrated to depths of around 1,500 meters, extending far below the shallower IP investigation depth. The release also discussed resistivity thresholds ranging from 50 ohm-m to 10,000 ohm-m, along with elevated chargeability anomalies concentrated in the eastern part of the grid.
The geochemical side of the story is improving as well. NovaRed now references copper-in-soil values up to 1,125 ppm Cu associated with chargeability and conductivity anomalies. Earlier surface programs highlighted values up to 379 ppm Cu, so the addition of the larger historical anomaly significantly strengthens the overall exploration thesis.
Scale matters too. Wilmac now spans approximately 16,078 hectares in the Quesnel porphyry belt and is located roughly 10 kilometers west of Hudbay Minerals Inc.’s (NYSE: HBM) Copper Mountain Mine, which hosts proven and probable reserves of 345 million tonnes grading 0.26% copper and 0.12 g/t gold according to Hudbay disclosures.
At this point, the story feels less like isolated exploration results and more like a developing district-scale copper-gold targeting model supported by multiple layers of technical evidence.
