Long post.. sorry

For those who care, lol.

This weekend I did tons of research like y'all recommended. I focused heavily on seeing if he has separation anxiety or confinement anxiety. Turns out he has both. (Insert "why not both" meme)

Saturday and Sunday I got him comfortable in the crate where he would walk in unassisted, I would close the door, and he would eventually lie down while I was nearby. He even took naps in there. He never whines when he could see me or knew I was in the same area.

I thought he might have been barking because he was away from the other dogs, so I set up his crate in the living room by the TV. Sunday I headed out to volunteer; it's a 40-minute drive...

I made it 35 minutes in before I had to turn around.

He somehow managed to pull the dog couch (that my old man loves) and chew a chunk out of it.

I got back, ran with him, and spent 2 hours sewing up the couch.

Last night I had him lie in the crate in the laundry room while I slept on the couch. I initially set it up so the door was open and he had a decent area to roam around (it was fenced in.) Well, he leaped over pretty easily.

Then I shortened the free area but left the door open.

He seemed intent on standing half in the crate and whining. I piled as many blankets and towels in there as I could find around midnight.

I put frozen treats and a lick mat in there; he didn't touch those at all. I also have my Petcube set up right by the fence so I could toss treats at He didn't care.

But he didn't scream or bark, just the occasional whine. Every time he whined, I would call out, "I'm right here, Ramsey boo." I fell asleep screensharing my phone to the TV and playing calming music with a black screen for dogs, so I could see him from the camera back there. Every time he settled, I would say, "Good boy," and if he stayed settled for a while, I would go give him treats.

Overall, I got 2 hours and 12 minutes of sleep, but he was able to eventually sleep a couple of hours alone.

Today, I got him settled in his crate. He made me about 10 minutes late because he decided to run away from the laundry room anytime I got close. He knew I was leaving eventually, even though I got up early, put on my uniform in stages, and laid down with him for a little bit.

Well, he started whining within 15 minutes of me leaving. I tried to talk to him through the camera. No luck. He barked for about an hour before he got tired and settled down. Forty minutes later he started again. This time he settled a little faster. I went home around 8:30ish and let him out. He wasn't barking or freaking out at this point. He had some zoomies, water, and started to take a nap. I put him back in and went back to work. He had a barking session that lasted about 30 or 40 minutes, then settled down. I went back around 11:00 for lunch and stayed with him for 2 hours.

When I went back to work, he settled right away, slept a little, and stayed that way until I got home around 16:00. He refuses to touch treat, lick mats, or chewys when he is stressed.

So overall it was amazing 🎊🎉

No property damage, no poop 💩 on the walls, no destroyed dog supplies (minus Sunday), and no lasting damage to his small brain, lol.

I'll admit he had one calming treat at midnight and another around 05:00. For his size, he can have three at a time.

Sorry for the long update!

So I acquired a intact greyhound mix picture included. He has had a rough start to life. He was found with a pack of small dogs in the wild hanging around a construction site. He went to a home on 2 acres with 1 pit bull and 1 lab. He lived there for over a year enjoying life being an semi outside dog. Recently he got into a unprovoked fight with the older lab mix. He did some damage and put the dog in an emergency vet.

Overall he is extremely lazy and sweet. He is also submissive he let's my lab whipped mix correct him. He does obsessedly hump and clean my senior dog (16 years old weiner Beagle mix guy) private areas. My old guy will bark then he will leave him alone.

He responds well to commands and lives to please.

We go on 5 mile walks every other day and have day long adventures on the weekends.

Thankfully I have a job where I live 3 minutes from work so most lunches I can go let them out. He will go potty then settle down for a nap. He won't be in the crate more than 4 hours at a time.

I need to crate train him. I cannot have him with my other dogs yet without supervision. My lab whipped mix has anxiety and will provoke chaos if she is around other anxious dogs. And I can't stress my old man out with the constant humping.

As a military person i need to have him crate trained so other people will be willing to watch him

It took me 1 week to get him to get in the crate. I just now got to the point where i don't have to shove him in there. He will walk in.

Once I leave he will bark for hours. With a barking collar he will scream

In 1 week he had destroyed 2 indestructible cots (over $80 each)

Today I tried calming treats.. he shat all over the crate, wall and bed

No I won't rehome him. He has a bite on his record I can't do that too him

No I can't leave him it in a room . I tried with loud calming music for dogs and he eats doorframes

No I can't find a dog sitter to sit there while he just sleeps

No I can't leave him outside it gets over 100° outside and he likes to run away.

Yes he will get fixed as soon a i get the funds and his health assessed

Pls help. I fear he thinks he is being abandoned every time I leave the house and it breaks my heart
