Is my transmission cooked?
2001 330ci, automatic, ZF tranny.
After a single overheating event, my transmission immediately went into limp mode, cog light, etc. Only moves in 1st gear, slips in any others, and no reverse.
I checked the fluid (kept it) and it definitely smells burnt.
Inpa codes are attached, I tried to translate German to the best of my ability and I think it describes “48 Torque converter clutch slip, 65 Gear monitoring 4 (ratio implausible) 55 Gear monitoring 5 (ratio implausible) 3 EDS solenoid 3 fault, and 2 EDS solenoid 2 fault”
Notably, Computer recognizes when i cycle through the shifter. It’s also not silent, if try to put it into reverse, it loads up, and there’s a thud.
What are the odds that this is a fixable solenoid and/or fluid/filter pressure issue? And if not, should I consider valve body, clutch pack, and/or reverse drum failure?
Trying to weigh my next steps before I throw money at her…
