I see quite a few people asking about Sri Lanka / Kalpitiya lately, so I thought I’d share some honest info. The season is just starting now.

Kalpitiya is actually really good from June to September if you like strong and reliable wind. 18–30 knots literally everyday and there are huge flat-water lagoons with enough depth. It’s also still relatively uncrowded compared to a lot of other known destinations. What surprises a lot of people is that there are also really fun wave spots nearby, and many days they’re almost empty.

There’s also a smaller season around January–March with lighter but steadier wind.
