I'm using LaserGRBL software, the framing is set to 0% power but when it traces my design around the leather, it burns a giant rectangle into the leather, it's very thin but definitely visible especially since I use the framing like 5-6 times to get the positioning perfect. Is there anyway to do the framing without burning/scratching my leather?

I have a 7w Woxcker laser, nothing special but I'm hoping someone has the answer. I tried masking tape and yes it definitely prevents the issue but I like the results of the engraving without the tape.
