S22 BOOTLOOP AND IT'S FIX

What happened:

I updated my S22 to the May security patch, and later that same night the phone started randomly rebooting whenever it was under load. By the next morning, it had progressed into constant bootloops and would barely stay on before restarting again.

What I did (and what you should do if you ever end up in the same situation):

Luckily, I still had brief periods where the phone would work normally, so I immediately backed up all my data using Smart Switch. The backup completed successfully.

After that, I tried a factory reset, but as expected, it didn't fix the issue. At that point, I knew it was most likely a hardware issue (likely a BGA solder joint failure on the motherboard), so I took it to a repair shop.

Possible solutions:

  1. If you're on a tight budget, avoid the Samsung service center. They generally recommend replacing the entire motherboard or offering an exchange for a new phone, which is very expensive.

  2. Try the software fixes first. Someone here suggested updating One UI Home and checking for Google Play system updates. It's worth trying, although in my case everything was already up to date.

  3. The actual fix (at least in my case): Find a reputable local repair shop that does motherboard reballing. In my case, the repair involved reballing the CPU/RAM package (BGA rework). Make sure they're experienced, as this is delicate work and a bad repair can permanently damage the board.

I got my phone back after 22 days (the irony 😅), but it's been working perfectly since then. The repair cost me ₹6,000 (around $60 USD), though prices may vary depending on where you live and the shop you choose.

Hopefully this helps someone else who runs into the same issue.
