Reassure Me? Flying Alone with Toddler :/
My in-laws are having a 3/4 life crisis and decided they want to share a beach vacation with their only grandsons while they are still mobile. It’s sentimental - the same location their parents would snowbird before they passed. I can’t say no.
Realizing a 12+ hour drive with a one-year old is a less an ideal situation, they decided to book a direct flight for me with the one year old, then drive the older siblings. Super kind thought and an exceptionally generous gift, but man is my anxiety growing as the day approaches.
Managing little dude at the airport, then as a lap infant on the flight feels like so much. He isn’t little. He’s 16 months but firmly in 3T and 30+ pounds. He isn’t a fan of staying put. He is very much an on-the-go explorer. Climbing is his jam.
Help me get out of my own head! It’s going to be alright, right? Even if it’s rough, there’s a fixed end to look forward to, right? Tell me it isn’t the mountain my emotions are making it out to be… and maybe pass along any tips/tricks you may have?
ETA: Purchasing their own ticket isn’t an option. The flight was booked months ago. I only recently realized they were a lap infant, and the fight is now full. The agent did help me upgrade to a seat with more legroom, but that’s all she could do at the time.
