feline asthma attack?
my male siamese (maybe mix breed) cat is 8 years old, overweight (18lbs) and he keeps having these attacks that are similar to coughing up a hairball but with no groggy sounds or contractions. he just straightens his neck to be flat, sticks out his tongue and kind of wheezes? it sounds like a cough but wheezy i guess. this happens maybe twice a month but my parents think its just hairballs but nothing ever comes up. he barely sheds at all and when my other cats (ragdolls) go to cough them up something almost always comes up but he never coughed one up even once to my knowledge. i’d add a video but it wont let me sadly.
I just want to know how serious of a sign this is to go to a vet because i dont trust google AI and i prefer to hear it from a real person whos heard his symptoms
for clarification, him being obese is something we’ve tried to fix many times, different diets, putting him on only one pouch a day and even just giving him only wet food but changing his diet gives him diarrhea and the vets say theres nothing wrong with his thyroid. i think it may just be because hes short in length compared to most siamese.
