Day 183/184
Oh cool, another post to race about how awesome Pet Sounds is. Well yes, Pet Sounds is phenomenal. But the reason I’m making this post is because I had Dennis Wilson’s solo album yesterday, which is a really weird coincidence. Anyone else had a solo project followed by a band effort or vice versa?
July in Review
I feel like the generator is pushing out too many quality albums.
Top five are true five stars
More Songs About Buildings through Van Halen are 4.5
She’s So Unusual to Hail to the Thief are 4 stars
Rust In Peace to Music in Exile are 3.5
Movies to Cafe Bleu are 3 stars
Yeezus and G Love and Special Sauce are 2 stars
I know there’s more shit like G Love in the generator, so I’m unsure why it’s not generating for me. I mean, I know luck plays a role, but it will be annoying if I exhausted all the great stuff 800 albums in leaving me with mediocre/bad albums to listen to.
I guess the Onion has spoken
I got Rust In Peace generated today and the top reviews were linking to an Onion article which I find funny. https://theonion.com/humanity-still-producing-new-art-as-though-megadeth-s-1819578062/
I can’t with this review
Look I know this record is not for everyone but my brother in Christ this review is just wrong. I just generated it today and expected this to be divisive but this is just a new low.
June 2026 recap
Well this was a pretty loaded month for me ngl.
I go by half stars so
Marquee Moon to Disintegration are 5 stars
Brilliant Corners to Imagine are 4.5 stars
Moby Grape to Tago Mago are four stars
Rip It Up to Lupe Fiasco 3.5 stars
Return to Planet Earth to Truth and Soul 3 stars
Maverick a Strike is my lowest rated but only at 2.5 stars
Day 147 - In Memoriam
Another in memoriam post from me, as lead singer of Blood, Sweat, and Tears David Clayton Thomas died last week, and this got generated after the fact. Wish I could say I enjoyed this more but I guess it’s alright
Day 139
You know I was going to give this record a whole bunch of stars but then the outro shouted out every person on planet earth except for me. Now I‘m mad and going to give this 0 stars
Day 136 - The Most Infuriating Album
I don’t think there’s an album that has pissed me off more than this one. The thing is, disc one is absolutely phenomena. I think the four tracks that open the record are some of the best experimental rock tracks to ever exist. Had this record ended there, it would‘ve been an easy five for me. But then Aumgn decided to rear its ugly head into the album. I fucking hate this song. The dip in quality from Halleluhwah to Aumgn might be the single biggest gap on any record ever. And Peking O isn’t much better. As a result, this record makes me more angry than it probably should because I absolutely love the first half but can’t stand the second half. Easily the biggest second half drop off of any record.
Day 133 - A Tribute to Sonny Rollins
I got this record and was looking at the credits for this record and noticed one Sonny Rollins appeared on this album, who died approximately 3 weeks ago. I’m posting this album today less to proclaim my enjoyment of it (spoiler alert: I’m a sucker for this type of jazz) but more to express my condolences to Sonny. And to thank him for putting on an excellent performance for such an excellent record
When will the new additions get added?
This is more a question of curiosity but given that the new additions got posted on amazon (mentioned in this post), I’m wondering if that means those new additions will get added soon. Or will we wait till the official release of the book in October to add them on the generator? Personally I’m fine with either way but I want to ask the question now
Curious about albums like these
My pick today was Moby Grape and so I ended up clicking on the 1967 list and this album was on there. The thing is, this album didn’t actually appear in the book. It definitely was caught, it only had 115 reviews so I’m guessing they mistook it for the actual Miriam Makeba album. I’m just curious if there were any other oversights like this on the site?
I Swear The Generator Follows My Soul
So today my cat died. Lived a long life but I‘m understandably feeling sad. So I was hoping for a comfort listen, but nope instead we get a really devastating album instead. I guess there could’ve been worse picks but regardless, I think the generator knows my soul
100 done!
Here is my current rankings of all 100 albums that got generated for me. One interesting stat, despite there only being 24 albums released before the 1960s, I already got a quarter of those albums generated. Also my two favorite artists ever (The Beatles and David Bowie) seem to be avoiding me in the generator. They probably are going to be my last 16 knowing my luck
