My first BJD has arrived

My first BJD has arrived

My beautiful Oueneifs Bertha has arrived (I’m thinking of changing that name). I just had to wait until the weekend for her to arrive from Miami.

Luckily, Shugo Fairies always come in a blister pack inside the box, so the little dent on the bottom of the box didn’t cause any problems. She came with extra feet for flat shoes. That’s brilliant

She arrived with the joints set to the perfect tension; I haven’t had to adjust a thing. When I was told here that I might have to adjust the tension of the elastic bands, I started looking for videos. It didn’t look too complicated, but I still felt a bit unsure about doing it – it’s a good thing I’ve had to do it for now.

The only tricky bit I found was putting the wig on; I looked for videos and only found one, but their method didn’t work for me. I tried several times to put the wig on until I finally managed it. Another thing was the skirt strap – I wanted to attach the buckle pin, but the strap doesn’t have a hole in it, so I had to make one with a large needle. It took two attempts; luckily, on the first try I didn’t push the needle in too hard, so it’s barely noticeable.

Anyway, now it’s time to enjoy her – she’s beautiful, I can’t stop looking at her. Here’s a quick, casual photo I took just to show you all – a few days ago I was making a little display stand for her, which you can see in the background. My room’s a bit dark, but I positioned the table so that light comes in from a window and from the doorway, and I also had to switch on the room light.

I don’t think I’ve left anything out, but if I have, I’ll let you know later. I hope you like the photo.

BJD Photography.

Hi again, whilst I’m waiting for my doll to arrive, I’ve been looking at tips for taking photos with her. I don’t have a digital camera, let alone a semi-professional one, so I have to make do with my mobile. I recently changed my mobile and, unlike my previous one, this one doesn’t have a professional mode to adjust the settings manually, but the photo quality is better.

Do any of you take good photos with your mobiles? If so, how do you do it? Do you take them outdoors or indoors? If indoors, how do you manage the lighting, the setting and the background, etc.?

Apologies if this is a bother. But I’m so excited thinking about all the things I want to do when she arrives,

New to the world of ShugaFairy BJDs

Hi, a few days ago I ordered my first Oueneifs ShugaFairy BJD doll on Amazon. I’ve been collecting Mecha Musume model kits, but due to some frustrations with that hobby, I wanted to try my hand at BJD dolls, as I really enjoy photography and I think these dolls will meet my expectations. I love the photos people post of their dolls on social media.

I did a bit of research and looked at a few sites where they’re sold, and I was put off by the prices. Model kits are expensive, but not to that extent; although for the price of even the cheapest full set, like the one I bought, I could buy up to three model kits.

I had a look at the Oueneifs Official website but didn’t dare buy from there, as I couldn’t find a way to register, so I decided to go with Amazon, which also has an Oueneifs Official shop. I reckon I’ll keep buying from there, depending on how the doll arrives, as it takes quite a while – about a month – to get here.

Lots of people speak highly of buying from AliExpress, but to be honest I’ve never bought from there, so I’m a bit wary.

I’ve attached a photo of my beloved future BJD; according to the reviews, it’s very well listed. The only thing is that people say the eyes aren’t the same as in the photos, but like the user who posted that comment, I don’t mind – she’s still beautiful.

All that’s left is to wait.

I’ve got loads of questions about the hobby; I hope to learn a lot from you all and enjoy my BJDs.
