Considering an Elevated Dog Bed

I’m getting an 8-week old puppy soon and am totally overwhelmed by the sleep at night thing. My plan was to let her sleep in the main downstairs crate with a Snuggle Puppy. Now, after watching umpteen You Tube videos I’m grappling with getting a small crate for upstairs or an Elevated Dog Bed that elevates to the height of your bed. I’ve seen one advertised on Chewy and Amazon. Also, would a pet carrier work for sleeping at night? I know I could get good use out of that for vet visits. I realize I’m probably overthinking all of this but help, please!

I Have a Crate Dilemma

I anticipate getting a shih tzu puppy. My dilemma is that I have a 24” long x 17” wide x 19” high wire crate from my 10 lb Shih Tzu that just passed. Will this crate work for a puppy? Will it be “den/zen” enough? I can’t find a divider for this size crate and I’m not a DIYer.
I’d rather not buy another crate for downstairs but I am thinking about buying a bedside crate. Is anyone familiar with the PAWD crate? Looking for all insights on my crate dilemma.

I think I’m Depressed

I’ve been trying to hide it but I think I’m depressed. Having to put down my little girlog 18 y/o is really hitting me hard today. It will be a month in a couple of days. I just feel like crying today. She was such a beautiful and spunky dog in her prime. My heart aches.💔

Are They Jumpers?

Thinking about getting a cat - Himalayan or Persian as people are trying to talk me out of getting a puppy after losing my precious 18 y/o shih tzu. The issue is that I don’t want a cat jumping all over the place knocking down my stuff (and I have a lot of stuff). Looking for insights. I think Persians/Himalayans are gorgeous but I don’t know a lot about cats although I have friends who have had cats. Thanks!

Is a Lavender Shih Tzu a Good Choice?

Having just lost my shih tzu of 18 years I want one that won’t inherently have issues because of genetics. Anybody have a Lavender and can share insights? Thinking about getting one. Would love to see pictures, too!

Why Is It So Hard to Get a Dog These Days?

I had to put my 18 y/o shih tzu down three weeks ago.
I specifically want a shih tzu puppy and it’s turned into this arduous ordeal. When my Mother bought Twinkle for me it was from a newspaper adcand my Mom negotiated a priceof $300. No contracts signed- just a paperwith her lineage, etc. Now I hear negative things about done of the online sites, hard to find an ethical breeder who’s not charging thousands of dollars. I do not want a rescue or adoption unless it is a surrender situation. It’s just been really hard to find another Shih tzu and I thought it would be easy l. She was my third shih tzu and I never signed a contract and they all were from private breeders I found through the classifieds (not Craigslist). Appreciate any insights. Thsnks!
