new puppy energy hits different when the face looks like this
We took a break for the winter & Zensu + Zsa Zsa had tla litter of puppies. We'd met so many people over the years who express interest in puppies. A lovely couple in Olympia , Washington adopted their boy and girl. Now we are back out over the road giving people some cuteness when we get stuck in traffic.
He has been with me on board my truck for almost 3 years now. He has made the long hours and weeks out on the road so much better for me. He’s my best friend.
Tito was adopted by us from Miracles for Satos rescue in July 2023.
He actually flew from San Juan, PR to JFK airport in NYC with a layover in Chicago. Then 2 hour drive home to us!
He lived on the streets for a while, he was found wandering around after someone left a tip about him. And then he ended up with us! And we are so grateful for it.
It's been almost 3 years and Tito adjusted quickly and has just become my everything. He's a happy lil guy and we are the best of friends.
(Last 2 pics: one is from the first week we rescued him, the other is from when they found him on the street)
Treats got delivered and he now has a full box. Shops were generous enough to give us one free pack each. Someone is itching to get a taste of everything (1st pic)
Hellooo! I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit, but I could use some advice.
I have a male Shih Tzu (about 9 months old) with long hair that’s starting to get matted, mostly around his ears but also in a few other spots. I do try to brush him regularly, but he moves a lot and gets frustrated during grooming.
He’s getting a haircut tomorrow to take care of the mats, but I want to do better going forward. What’s the best way to maintain his coat so it stays healthy and tangle free?
I’d also love recommendations for:
I feel bad that his coat got to this point ): so I really want to improve and take better care of him. For context, I’ve had dogs before, but none with hair this long.
Thanks in advance for any help I get (:
my shih dog, and i think not just him, also my other shih dogs (age: 1-3 yrs old) keep breathing like this when they're about to sleep. I'm not sure if this is normal because they have a small nose/nostril. This mostly happens when they're still conscious. But when sleep is deep, I don't notice them breathing fast like this (or maybe they do, I just don't notice well).
I live in a tropical country so it's very hot, especially when summer hits. That's why I always have my air conditioning open for almost 24/7 because of the heat.
I also have other shih dogs whose furs aren't fluff like this (they look like Chihuahuas with their furs), but they don't breathe like this. Could it be an issue with the fur keeping the heat in their body?
Birdie and Lambchop after a romp in the yard 😛
This sweet girl is almost 2 years old. We got her after the loss of our previous Tzu, Bebe, after 13 years to nasty mouth cancer. Getting Pandy was a form of remembrance for her and a way to make new happy memories :) Watching her grow and go through so many phases and styles has been so much fun, she’s so happy and playful. Super energetic and loves gnawing the fingies still. She puts her belly up to anybody giving her love.
Last pic is her now! Grooming them with knots is so challenging we got her professionally groomed, I love her current look. And yes her and the cat are sisters, they get along and play together. Being raised by Amish and in the farms helped the both of them connect haha
There has been a 90°+ heat wave here for the past 3 days. It's been sooo hot and now Asher's tail is frizzy from the heat 🤣🤣🤣 he's just like his mama because I have curly hair and the heat makes it frizzy 😂 thank god the temps are going back down starting tomorrow!!! 🥵
Chinx is 11 and she’s been potty trained for years but this past month she’s started using the bathroom indoors. I know it’s not a health issue cause she’s fine when I’m home with her. She typically gets 3 potty breaks a day. Her first at 7am. I just let her out to pee. We go for a walk around 3pm where she pees and poops and then I let her out for her final potty break at 7pm.
This past month she’s used the bathroom 5 times in the house, 3 of which were on the couch. It’s like she’s mad at me for leaving her by herself. I know she can hold it because of her potty break schedule. The other day, I let her out at 7am, went to the DMV between 8-9am. I was gone less than 45 mins and when I came back, she had peed on my sofa.
Needless to say, I’m extremely frustrated so I bought a crate for her. Today is my second time having to crate her to go somewhere and when I check on her via the Ring camera she’s whining, crying and pawing at the door. She’s also panting like she’s in distress. I feel horrible about crating her after years of her having her freedom but I can’t come home to another piss puddle on my sofa. Any ideas on how to make her more comfortable or am I just going to have to give her time to adjust?
One whole year ago we adopted our shitzu. It's been alot of work to learn how to take care of him and to learn how to deal with seperation and general anxiety. But we love him so much and everything he brings to our lives. We invited friends that helped us tremendously and supported us and threw a adoption-day party for him with alot of toys and treats.
