Best free/open-source resources for building automated agents locally (24GB RAM + RTX 2060S)?
I just wrapped up the 5-course Agent Development Kit (ADK) track on DataCamp during their free week. Building agents with Gemini was fun, but I really don’t want to be tied to paid API tiers or rate limits. I want to shift everything to a fully local setup on my own rig if needed i will train it with any existing data.
Here is what I'm looking to build first:
- A daily news agent that pulls top geopolitics/entertainment news every morning and gives me a concise digest.
- A daily job-hunting agent that scans for specific roles against my resume and outputs a report with apply links.
- A basic market research agent to track product pricing and supplier info.
My hardware: RTX 2060 Super (8GB VRAM) + 24GB System RAM.
Since I'm sticking strictly to open-source and free tools, what open-source frameworks (Ollama, LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.) and small local LLMs (Qwen 2.5, Llama 3.2, etc.) work best on an 8GB VRAM card without tanking performance?
Also, if you know of any high-quality free tutorials or GitHub repos for local agent workflows, please drop them below. Appreciate any advice!
