Hi reddit, my son got into Escuela Key and we have to decide to go there versus his local school, Tuckahoe. We're having a hard time deciding what to do and are curious if anyone else has first hand positive or negative xperiences they would be willing to share. Everyone in our neighborhood loves Tuckahoe, the few parents Ive met seem to like Escuela Key, but I've heard some parents talk about weaker academics at Key but they don't seem to care. By all "grain of salt" metrics it seems that Tuckahoe and the Yorktown pyramid have better academic outcomes. But it also feels like Spanish immersion is a unique opportunity, though I'm not sure I would want to prioritize Spanish over being better at reading and math, etc. if that is a real tradeoff.
