Redoing my deck in the spring and I want to add a a freestanding gazebo cover. Is this viable or just a stupid idea?

I want to put a freestanding gazebo cover on my deck without anchoring it to the house. I don’t want to modify the house or cause any issues with improper flashing and attachment.

The deck is raised about 8’ off the ground.

I also want to leverage the existing overhang from the house and have the cover set slightly in so the overhang will drain into the new roof. See my crappy diagram for a better explanation.

Assuming I anchor this to my deck properly, is this reasonable or just a stupid idea?

Looking for guidance on where to start for a children’s book type of art.

Apologies if this is asked all the time, but I’m looking for guidance.

I’m looking for suggestions or specific topics I can learn / research to be able to learn the art style found in many children’s books. My goal is to become decent within a year for a personal project not intended to make money.

I don’t need to become a professional artist or anything - I am really just looking for a focused path without a lot of fluff.

I’m decent for a beginner, but I feel I lack the skill and polish to be able to produce anything decent.

I don’t need to do fine art or highly detailed drawings - I would rather have a consistent, clean style of my own.

I picked up Perspective Made Easy, and I’m working through some of the suggestions on the sidebar as well.

Any suggestions on concepts to learn early and what supplies / media I should look at are appreciated.

I know this is a vague question, so any and all ideas are welcome!

Thanks.

I really like these Wharfedales, but I am looking at upgrading. What brands or speakers might you recommend at the $750 to $1000 price point in terms of budget? I’m in the USA.

I don’t like the high trebles or listening fatigue caused by my Klipsch R-51M speakers.

I do like the warmth (subjective, I know) of the Wharfedales, as well as the reduced treble and ease of listening without causing fatigue.

I would like my next set of speakers to have a little more presence or fill the room better. Slightly better articulation and presence of the treble would be nice, but I enjoy the rounded tone overall.

I am open to floor standing speakers or full speakers if that will help me achieve my goals.

Details: I have a two speaker setup (Wharfedale Diamond 225s) with an RSL Speedwoofer 10S Mk II. The receiver is an Onkyo TX-8220.

The room is 12’ x 12’ and 9’ high. The speakers are about 7 feet apart on speaker stands and angled in slightly to form an equilateral triangle with where I sit. They’re at head height and I sit about 7 feet away.

Thanks in advance!
