I’m a self build diy-er and after a couple of bits of help please.

1: I’ve built a small wall (6 bricks high, 7m long) and I’d like to render it so it looks neat and tidy as my brickwork isn’t the best- how do I accomplish this task?

2: my existing garden path is made of huge slabs, some of which are broken but the path is solid, just uneven. I’d like to build a new path on top of this path and make it even. Can I just use sharp sand with paving slabs on top and then decorative stone between slabs and for the edges?
