You’re staring at one of the most important infrastructure companies on the planet and still pricing it like a slightly improved Walmart.

AWS is the story. Not “part of the story.” The story.

The entire internet runs on this thing. Startups, Fortune 500s, governments, half the garbage AI companies people here keep gambling on — all of it needs compute, storage, and networking. That doesn’t magically appear. It comes from Amazon, and they charge for every single second of it.

And now everyone has decided they’re an AI company. Fine. Great. You know what AI actually requires? Massive, expensive, always-on compute. Not vibes. Not press releases. Servers. Data centers. Power. Scale.

That is AWS.

So while you’re out here buying whatever ticker had “AI” mentioned on a call, Amazon is selling the picks and shovels to every single one of them. And unlike your favorite overhyped trash, AWS actually makes money. Serious money. High margin, recurring, deeply embedded money that companies don’t rip out because switching costs are a nightmare.

This isn’t some side hustle inside Amazon. This is a profit engine that would be valued like a king on its own, stapled onto a company that also happens to dominate e-commerce and is quietly printing cash in advertising.

And here’s the part people are missing: they already did the hard part. They cut the fat, fixed the logistics mess, and stopped lighting cash on fire. So now when revenue grows, it actually drops to the bottom line instead of disappearing into “investment.”

You’ve got a company with one of the most dominant cloud platforms in existence, directly levered to the biggest tech spending wave in years, and people are still debating whether it deserves a premium multiple.

At some point the market stops pretending this is a low-margin retailer and starts treating it like what it is: critical infrastructure for the modern economy.

You can keep chasing whatever garbage is trending this week, or you can look at the company that’s quietly collecting a toll on the entire AI boom.
